Episode 1

What Career Stewardship Means

To get what you want out of your career, you need a framework.  In this episode, Michael defines what career stewardship means, sets out the four-part model (values-visions-competencies-relationships) for managing your career, and introduces the life-changing principle of “20 Minutes a Day.” We learn that rich people often give their kids bad career advice, that people from Harvard Business School frequently don’t communicate well, and that what you need for long-term career success only partly relates to what you do all day.  Also, the things you do in a job search are the types of things you should be doing all the time.  And being able to “write your own ticket” is nice but doesn’t really tell you how to manage your career.  career.
